For the last couple of days on cold starts, I hear a grunt from the drivers side. Sounds like a cold belt not turning cold. I've done the following to this 98 with 130,000 miles: New trans from Detroit :15millionsign: , 3rd water pump
, all belts replaced, new alternator , several electrical items including headlight blinking problem and wiper problems (can't remember exactly what they did but it cost me a arm and two legs, one finger and a toe.) Anyway now I'm getting this grunt on cold start up. One morning I noticed the water pump belt was screaming, applied some belt ease and it stopped. Could it be the belt or is there an idler arm puller in there I can't see? This almost sounds like some sort of air valve or pollution control device growning from the drivers side. I don't think this is a pulley and you hear it on the inside more than the outside. Could something be up with the brake booster? Any input would be appreciated. 98 Autobahn Aurora 06 Pontiac GTO M6 72 Sierra Grande GMC Fleetside (13.29 1/4 All throttle no bottle) Last edited by Autobanaurora; 01-07-2007 at 08:39 AM. |

Re: grunt on start up
I didn't think I would get much reaction to this one so here's another for ya, I think this grunt is coming from maybe the self leveling or some sort of air pump for the shocks, can anyone comment?

Re: grunt on start up
Ok, this morning it didn't do it but I turned off all power accessories before starting. Any ideas?
