Re: blazer suv starting probs

If it's a '97, replace the ignition switch. Common problem on '97's in the USA.

Re: blazer suv starting probs

I would buy a rebuilt starter and not a new one and save yourself the money.

Re: blazer suv starting probs

I'd check the park switch on the tranny before digging into the starter. Try to start it with the tranny in neutral.

Re: blazer suv starting probs

I assume you are going through the wheel well? If not, jack the truck, remove the front tires and lift the flap. That will give you a better view. The best way I've found to remove the one next to the steering shaft is to use a "warble" extension to get it good and loose, then you have to use fingers.

Re: blazer suv starting probs

Since you're in the UK, does it have the steering wheel on the left side or right side as you sit in the driver's seat?

Ya-know, that never even crossed my mind. It's been a few years but I've even driven in the UK on the right side. I wonder how different the clearance is with the steering shaft on the right side.
