Completed: Tamiya Toyota Tom's 84c

I guess I can post this one now. This is a kit I built for Scale Auto Magazine as a Review Article. It's built 100% out of the box and painted as called for in the instuctions. I really enjoyed building this model and I really like the look of the completed version. It's painted with Tamiya's Pure White, this silver is Tamiya Gloss Aluminum then cleared with Tamiya TS-13 clear. The red stripe over the car is the decals that came in the kit. None of the decals were clered over but I did use some tamiya wax on them to gloss them up a little. The side windows were sprayed with Tamiya Transparent Smoke.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks for sharing!! That's a beautiful build!! The livery is such that I'd like to attempt this same kit one day!! Were there any major issues with fitment and whatnot?

What a nice build!

Having this kit in my to do pile I'll ask:
Did you use the spray can of tamiya smoke or x-19 thru airbrush??

Thanks in advance.

Thanks everyone.

On the side windows I used the Transparent smoke from the spray can. I'm too lazy to use my airbrush

The polishing on this kit was done using the 3 Tamiya grades of poilsh and a soft cloth, Coarse, then fine then finish. After all the decals were on I used The Treatment Model wax to clean up any decal adhesive smudges and the last thing I did was use Tamiya Liquid Wax to clean up my fingerprints.

I find that with Tamiya TS sprays I get a smoother finsih to start with if I don't use a primer and I spray over smooth bare plastic. This makes the polishing process a lot easier when the paint is fairly smooth to start with. Of course if your plastic is molded in color and you want to change the color you'll have to use a primer anyway.

Also, the wheels in the kit are some of the best molded wheels I've seen. They are molded in white plastic. I sprayed the wheels with Tamiya TS-30 Silver Leaf and then brush painted the spokes/mesh with Testors Gold enamel in the little square bottle.

fantastic model there.
it's almost a shame you didn't detail the engine at all because to me, it's just crying out for some wires in there.
