Im not quite on that step just yet but while i was working on it, about an hour ago, the thought crossed my mind. The headlights and taillights are molded to the kit. How do you guys go about painting the lights and have as close a look as the regular kits that come with clear plastic lamps?
A thought just crossed my mind. Apply BMF and paint over it with clear red, clear yellow, etc? How do you guys do this? Thanks to everyone that takes some of their time to read and/or reply to my thread.

Re: How do ya paint resin kit head & tail lights
I'd say that the best solution would be to replace those parts with parts box or scratchbuilt clear parts. Some lenses can be replicated with small epoxy glue dots etc.
But if paint is the only option, then do just as you said. Use BMF and clear paints on top of that. On smaller lenses that gives quite realistic appearance. -Niko

Re: How do ya paint resin kit head & tail lights
It's a 1979 Chevy Monte Carlo. I know Trumpeter came out with a 78 model last year but in all honesty I wouldnt want to buy a kit only to mess it up and fix the resin model. I already bought that kit and have just ended up building it too
I think you also asked what type of car im making? I'm making them both into lowriders so I plan to foil a lot of parts on the front grill and front/rear bumpers.

Re: How do ya paint resin kit head & tail lights
Ever thought about making some scratch built ones using the molded in lights as a template and some clear perspex?
