99 astro wont start

kids ran it out of gas and now it wont start, put 4 gallons in, sounds like it wanted to catch a couple of times, but it wont, any ideas?, thanks

check your fuel pressure to see if they fried the fuel pump. the gasoline acts as a coolant for the pump and when you run out of gas the pump can overheat and fail. the more they tried to start the vehicle when dry, the more likely they ruined the pump.

You might also want to check the filter. As the pump sucked the last little bit of liquid fuel from the tank, it likely also got all the debris, moisture, and sediment that had accumulated in the tank over the years. If it didn't ruin the pump, it will have at least slugged the filter with a load of sediment. Even if the pump is bad, the filter will need replacement, so you might as well start with that then check pressure.
