Body Kit Professional Painting Cost
Have any of you had your body kits painted at a body shop? How much does it cost? I am looking to buy a body kit from someone, but it is not of the correct color for my car. I would like to know how much it would cost to get them painted at a body shop, so I can decide whether or not to take this offer. The body kit is for a '97 civic coupe. It includes front and rear underbody spoilers and side sills. Thanks!

Dang dawg; you are so lucky living in LA. You have sooo many shops to choose from. Well if you want a body shop that is heavily involved with the import scene, try
20/20 Autobody www.2020autobodytech.com (626)288-0565 They did my car. Probably the most famous car they've done is LJ's hatch. They're a little expensive though. I think just to get the kit and paint is about $1,200, but I'm not positive. JT Auto-I think they're kind of expensive too. Auto Explosion www.autoexplosion.net They're a little bit cheaper, and they've been doing A LOT of nice show cars lately. If I ever get any bodywork done in LA again, I'll be going to them. Thanks for the info, CivicLx. I am planning to get OEM Honda Accessories side skirts and lower rear spoiler and Civic Type R lower front spoiler (trying to keep the body clean looking). The reason I was wondering about the price is because I can get green side sills for $98.80, but black side skirts (color of my car) cost $358.80 at H and A Accessories:
http://www.handa-accessories.com/civic98.html I called 20/20 Autobody and they quoted $300 for painting over the side skirts. Auto Explosion quoted about $200. This is for just painting and not installation. For now, I am thinking that buying the pre-painted pieces in black is a better option, but those pieces are in Flamenco Black and my 97 Civic Coupe is Granada Black. Now, I can't tell the difference in the black paint from a 97 Civic and a 98 Civic even though I know they are a bit different. I'm trying to figure out whether a Flamenco Black body kit would look good on my Granada Black Civic. If it doesn't look right, I would rather pay and get it painted the correct color but if it would look good, then I would be cool with using a Flamenco Black kit. Any opinions or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!! |

Hmm...I wonder how the two different colors would turn out. How far are you planning on going with your car? My car used to be black, but I'm glad I got it painted. Just cause it's so much harder to see all the details in the kit when it's on a black car. I'm not sure the number right offhand, but if you wanna give J&S a call, they're in Covina and 411 can get you the number.
Good luck in your search! Keep us posted on what you decide to do
