Question Transmission Sending Unit Install

Happy New Year...

I have a 1984 K-10 1/2 Ton Chevy Pickup.. with a 305... Automatic Trans..

A few years ago I swapped out the dummy lights with original factory gauges. Been thinking about installing a trans temp gauge. I installed a trans cooler a few years back as well but I'm thinking I can use that connection to install the sending unit in-line with the cooler/radiator.. This is what I was pondering on..

1. I saw a picture of a Transmission temp. sending unit that was installed in-line between the radiator and cooler connection using a T-fitting. Can you buy a Transmission Gauge with a sending unit that can be setup to be installed in-line?.. If so, where?.. If not, what NPT fittings/parts are needed from HomeDepot/Lowes to build one?..

2. On the radiator there are two transmission lines (top/bottom). Which line sends the trans fluid back to the transmission from the radiator?..
