Where do I find the keyless entry module on my 97 chevy astro?

Where do I find the keyless entry module (Remote Control Door Lock Receiver) on my 97 Astro? If it is not equipped, what year modules will fit this application? I get key fobs for nothing from a friend who recovers autos and would like to add this feature, assuming I don't have it already. I bought the van used and don't know much about it.

Re: Where do I find the keyless entry module on my 97 chevy astro?

I just got one on ebay for under $10 delivered. It has to be programmed by your local GM dealer who did not charge me to program it. The guy on ebay I got it from is keyless4u. Just go on ebay.com, click the community button and enter his ebay name, it will show you all of his items. You will need the numbers on the back of your current remote to match at least one of the numbers. If you don't have a remote, your dealer can give you a part number to match with this guy. GM wanted $126 for a new one, bunch of crooks.

Re: Where do I find the keyless entry module on my 97 chevy astro?

Thanks boatbuster, but as I said, I can get all the free remotes I want, and I can program them. I need to know where to find the RCDLR (remote control door lock receiver), or keyless entry module in the vehicle (under dash, under hood, behind the kick panel, etc.). If I have one, I don't want to buy one, if I don't have one, then I want to buy one.

You can make it simple and look at your Options list (RPO codes) which are printed inside your "glove box" if you have the AU0 then you have the remote keyless entry option.......

AU0
Lock Control: Remote Entry

AU3
Lock Control: Side Door, Electric

OK, it didn't come with it, that's for sure. If I get one, where does it go? Is the harness there, just waiting to have a Remote Door Lock Control Module plugged into it? (Which really is really what I wanted to know all along)
