Auto Delay/auto dimming RV mirror

I have the mirror head for this system is there a way to convert this to work in my 97 explorer. What is needed and is it possible to do? Thanks

I think the only thing you need is a source of accessory 12v going to the mirror for it to work. All the electronics should be in the mirror assembly.

I think it may be more than just a simple neg/pos hook up. The mirror has a 6 prong plug that goes with it so there are six wires to go places. For the simple dimming of the mirror it would be 2 wires maybe 3 incl the one for the brake switch, but for the headlight timer/delay I think the other 3 wires need to be matched somewhere. Did the mirror come from a similar vintage Explorer/Mountaineer? If so, the wiring is as follows:

Pin 1: Not used
Pin 2: Exterior lamps
Pin 3: Reverse output of Digital Transmission Range Sensor if Automatic transmission, backup lamp switch if manual transmission
Pin 4: Ground
Pin 5: Fuse 36 of Instrument Panel fuse box (7.5A) - Hot at all times
Pin 6: Fuse 11 of Instrument Panel fuse box (7.5A) - Hot in Start and Run

I was told that the mirror was from a 1997/98 Explorer, which is what I have.
Thanks for the information on the wires. My question is #3 pin, what is the reverse output of the digital transmission range sensor??? Is that the reverse back up hot wire on the transmission ? Like the one that puts the lights (BU) on?? Also how do I determine the #1 pin Thanks

Yes, pin 3 receives battery voltage (positive) when the transmission is shifted to reverse. It is tied to the same circuit at the backup lamps.
There will be two "cutouts" on one long edge (one cutout on each end) and a locking tab for the connector lock in the middle. With the cutouts and tab on the top, looking at the mirror connection, pin 1 will be the pin on the right.
