ef 8 suspension help

I have a 91 jdm crx. I had a tokico set with springs and struts. The shop just called and said that the rear struts do not fit. Does any body know what model strut fits or where i could buy some struts to fit my car. Please help

Re: ef 8 suspension help

i know there was a thread on suspension a few days ago and someone mentioned that the rear set up was simalar to an 88. I think TSC said it. . I really need help on this. I would like to get tokico blue rear struts to match the rest of the set up.

Re: ef 8 suspension help

If its jdm it uses differnt rear struts. You can either get ones for an 88 (or an itr), or you can swap out the lower control arm with a USDM 89-91 (accually I think any till 2000 are the same, but I can not guarentee this). The differnces are that the 88 usdm (and 88-91 jdm) use eyelet lower mounts, and the usdm 89-91 use a fork style mount. The control arms interchange and that would be your cheepest and easiest option, probably $30 or less at a junk yard.

The only way you're going to use Tokico's is if you swap to the 89-91 style rear LCA's. They don't make tokico's for the 88's.
Personally, I would have gone with some Koni's for the 88 style that you have, but i'm sure that's out of the question now...just more money.

Re: ef 8 suspension help

well that is what i thought but i wasnt sure. So, i can use struts made for an 88 crx. This is correct right? i just need to buy 88 struts? sorry to be a pain but with this car i have trouble finding parts. So far alot of integra parts have fit. like front rotors and axles

Re: ef 8 suspension help

also, bam, are you sure they don't make tokico struts for the 88. At nopi.com they do have them for the 88 model. I checked the model number for the rear 88 and rear 91 and they are different. The pix they show looks the same but i am assuming they use the same one to describe the items.

Re: ef 8 suspension help

Read what TSC wrote. The 88 control arm can be modified/replaced to suit the struts you have now.

Re: ef 8 suspension help

They changed LCA design in 96 TSC. They use a narrower LCA on the 96+. Ran into this problem on my EG grabbing newer struts out of the salvage yard. But I believe the 89-95s are all the same.

Eh, I stand corrected. My memory didn't serve me right in this case.
The part number for the Tokico rear adjustables for the 88 is BU2799. Their a decent shock for the money. But hands down, Koni is better.
