96 blazer abs light on??
need some help diagnosing abs light. i have done some reading but am a bit confused on how to pull trouble codes for my yr blazer.the obd II pocket scanner i have wont show anything and am not sure if it should, i have read that you can jumper pins but my connector doesnt have letters like the chiltons calls out, it has numbers.
any help would be great. thanks |

Sorry but your Blazer will need to be scanned with a pro. type ABS scan tool.
You can check the ABS wires going from the upper A frame to your front hubs for breaks....my '97 had a broken wire. I don't know if there's a wire kit or whether you have to replace the hubs. I had already changed the hub so I put the wire from the old hub on to repair mine. |

Begining in 1996 the feds made all cars sold in the US OBDII compliant, as far as power train codes, with EPA standards for emmision control testing. In doing so they tossed a bone to the lobbiests for the auto manufactures and allowed them to keep all other codes proprietory. Thats why you'll find generic code readers and generic code lists for power train codes, but you'll have to find one specific to your manufacturer to read the ABS codes.

thanks for the info, i was also reading some on the post for today about the hidden warrenty stuff for abs problems , my blazer scared my son pretty good the other day when it wouldnt stop, also my other 96 gmc truck scared my other son when it did the same thing. looks like i get to start finding out about abs the hard way with gm vehicles..aarrgg.. i took chrysler to court about 6 yrs ago and won a new paint job due to hidden warranty.. time to do it again i guess..
