Re: im here, where do i go??

Creepy why?

I figure at least 2.2 and Nicole will chime in here pretty quick, and there will be an impromptu AF gathering in London.

Just start walking, choose a direction and discover as you go.

Re: im here, where do i go??

Silverstone and Mclaren aren't exactly in the middle of London y'know and there's not much to see or do at McLaren (assuming they let you in) and if you've got the cash, Silverstone does have quite a few circuit day events that you can have a go at.

Anyway.....
Your IP tells me you're in Kingston at the moment, right? Are you going to be there for the duration of your stay? Have you gotten yourself an oystercard yet?
It might help to give us an idea what kind of things you like (apart from cars) or anything that interests you. Anything you've heard about that you want to see for real? Examples, the Palaces, London Zoo, Aquarium, Museums (most are free now), Parks etc? I think the London Fair is still open in Hyde Park
If the London theatre shows interest you, have a look on Lastminute.com for some discounted theatre tickets for a nice night out with the missus.
I recommend Stomp as it is amazing and cheap at £10 a head.

The London Dungeon is a bit of a laugh if a bit over-rated and touch overpriced but the walk to the location on the river bank from Embankmant is nice as it takes in the Southbank Centre and if you carry on until St Pauls/Millenium Bridge, you get to see the nice little area by the Design Museum as well and I think the F1 exhibition is still on but you'll have to check that.

St. Pauls Cathedral is a must as there is nothing quite like it and even if you're not a religious person, get yourself in for services on Sunday. You will literally be moved by the sound you get in there.

Westminster is also a tourist must but aim to get there for the early dusk/twilight as that is when it looks its best. Tricky to take photos of but worth it.

Ignore the big ferris wheel....

Slightly off the normal track but along the river, there are some very nice little pubs, especially towards the Greenwich end and then again near the chelsea end of the river. I recall there being a little boat trip that is essentially a pub crawl. I'll see if I can find details about that.

So yeah, what kind of things are you interested in?

Anyway, as a tourist in London, I recommend the V&A (Victoria & Albert Museum) Everything in there is gorgeous, as well as the architecture.

well..... I think it's over-rated.
it could just be that:
i) I (and my entire architecture atelier) got on it for free and I just wasn't impressed
ii) queues are not my thing
iii) there are better, albeit non 360 degree views in london that in themselves are nice places. Sure the wheel gives you a unique level of observation but the thing itself just isn't all that.

y'know, just being high up doesn't help.
I much prefer what you get when you're at the Greenwich Observatory, in the park looking over towards canary wharf or the view from the restaurant at the top of the former natwest tower or even the one at the top of the Swiss Re tower. If you're west of London, Trellick Tower (it's a residential block) also has great views.
Of course, I don't think that the three I mentioned are actually open to general public....

One thing i do recommend is that you should look at a night time ride down the river cos that's when you get the best look at the buildings all lit up. I think that's the best feature of the wheel, it looks great on the skyline.
