Try a search here. I posted a table with wattage vs wire gauge about a year ago.

I typed "wire" into the search window found at the bottom of /xterra/ and it came up. A search using the "main" engine at www.automotiveforums for "wire" and user name "Schludwiller" would have gotten a more narrow result. Regardless here it is: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...highlight=wire |

DjHornsby,
I have 4 100 watt aircraft landing lights on my xterra and I used 12 gauge wire. I have had them on the xterra for quite a while and have had no problems. FYI...the equation for figuring out total amps from your lights is watts/volts. (IE: Amps = watts / volts) Just make sure you don't exceed your alternators output because then you will have problems. My 4 lights run at 33.3 amps total when they are all on. I have a relay with 2 fuses that are 20 amps a piece and have never blown the fuses. I have more lights than just the 4 100 watt lights. They all work great and no problems at all with any of them. Good luck! AerialViper |
