cylinder head

ok i got 98 civic and it overheats but i tried to look for a leak and couldnt find it i told ppl from work and they said that i could have a crack on my cylinder head is this true or was the guy bs me ??? but if i do have to replace it how much would it cost to buy a rebuild one??

Do you mean that it keeps loosing coolant but you don't see a leak? It's probably a head gasket however it could be a cracked head or block. Gasket is a relativly easy fix. If it is the head or block you can find them here in the classifieds or on Ebay.

but if its the head gasket doesnt white smoke suppose to come out of my exhaust cause its normal color on mine right now

Do a compression and leakdown test to make sure that its the headgasket and not the head itself. You may have to take the head into a machine shop in order to find out whether or not its ok.

Also, i would NEVER buy parts for my Honda off Ebay. If you aren't already a member of Honda-tech, become one and search the classifieds. There are more Honda parts there than any other source on the internet...

ok got a question i bought a d15 jdm engine and when i got it it was a d15 v-tec E and i have to change the block of my d16y8 out cause the block cracked. would i lose hp if i took the block from the d15 v-tec E and used my D16y8 head
