I have a 2000 Mustang Convertible...standard 6cyl engine...
I have been trying to find info on fixing my driver's window and I am coming up totally empty. I have searched here and looked for other sites. I have looked and looked for for manuals on this car. I have come up almost totally empty. I am not some newbie to the internet..but this is ridiculous. I rarely have this much trouble finding information. It is not like this is some rare model of car. My first and most pressing need is to fix the window. It appears to have fallen out of the track. I would LOVE to find some info on getting the door panel off and putting the window back into the track. On a more longterm note, I would really like to know what manual people are using and what reference sources are available. Any and all help is appreciated. |

Re: I may be slow..but not this slow
I appreciate the thought.
And it is good to know that the cost will not be that bad should I have to take it to the shop. As time passes though, there are going to be more repairs. I would really like to be able to do these sorts of things on my own. Surely there are resources out there that I can access. |

Re: I may be slow..but not this slow
Well even that info is help.
I probably can guess how to get the door panel off. Now that I know it may be glue, I will have some on hand before trying to get it off. Of course if there are any special tricks to getting the panel off, any input in that is also appreciated. Thanks.. |

Re: I may be slow..but not this slow
There is a special tool to take interior parts off with. It looks kinda like a for with only two prongs. The door panel should have little plastic "tacs" that hold it on, with the tool I mentioned you just pop them out. They are normally only good to be used one time. But you can get them cheap if you choose to replace them.

Re: I may be slow..but not this slow
Sorry for busting into an old thread, but before you go yanking at your door panel...
Remove your power window and lock panel, this can be done with a flat head screwdriver gently prying under the rear (towards the back of the car). Careful not to snap any of the clips on it. Remove the bezel around your inside door handle, same deal, only it's on the bottom of the bezel. Now lock your doors (remember not to lock yourself out of the vehicle) and lift STRAIGHT up on the door panel. It has upside-down U shaped holders around the sides and bottom that go into slots in the door shell. It's going to be a little tight around the window seal, but don't worry about that, it just slides off. Door panel removed. Also how you access your speakers... The special clip removal tool previously mentioned will turn your door panel into a waste of space in your garbage bin.
