D16/B16 header question

i'm planning a crv-tec swap with a b16 head. i heard from a friend that there are some headers that are interchangable between d16 and b16 heads. is this true? and what brand? thanks

Re: D16/B16 header question

oh, and would b16 headers connect directly to the existing civic exhaust system (cat)?

Re: D16/B16 header question

No, they are different. And even if the bolt pattern was the same, the height of the block is much bigger for a crv/vtec. Even a B16a header is going to be too short. You'll need one for a B18c or specifically for a B20/vtec. I don't think an aftermarket header will line up exactly with your existing exhaust, the length should be different (either the header is too long or too shorts, can't recall which). But if you're looking for power, the stock exhaust is going to be too restrictive, you should go at least 2.5"

Here's some companies to check out for a header:
http://www.an-r.com/bseriesheader.htm
http://sms-products.com/Headers.html
http://www.hytechexhaust.com/
http://www.dtr-fab.com/product_header_b-series.html
http://www.importpowerhouse.com/cust..._manifolds.htm
Those are just a few companies that make good headers out there. Of course there are other companies that make cheaper ones, but thye don't always give you the best performance.

on that note, because the gsr b18 makes more horse power would the head also make more HP over a b16 head on the b20? and i'm planning on a jackson racing SC for the b16 head. would there be any clearance problems?

Re: D16/B16 header question

the gsr head will raise compression slightly, but it shouldn't make that much of a difference. but if u get the sc for the b16a, it won't work on the gsr head (different intake manifold bolt pattern); so pick which head to use beforehand
