Key in reminder chime?
Does anyone know what causes this thing to ding even though the key is out of the ignition and the lights are off? This happens on my sons 96 F150 and it is driving him nutz. Thanks

Re: Key in reminder chime?
If you want to fix it , Ford sells a repair wire and terminal end to repair. You will need to remove the ign cylinder . To do that , insert key in ign. , place a small screwdriver into hole located under ign . cyl through trim cover on steering column. with small screw driver inserted turn ign. to on position and pull cyl. out.
you will probably see a broken plastic connector and a small bare wire terminal To fix , replace with new piece /// or just cut and tape and isolate wire out of the way . This will do it forever.

Re: Key in reminder chime?
So when I get the lock cylinder out will it be pretty much self explanatory as far as the wire goes? I don't really want to go to the dealer for a kit. Can I rig something up at home in the garage? Thanks

Re: Key in reminder chime?
Hey sorry for the delay getting back to you
There really is no rig to fix it unless you buy the pigtail from Ford I think they are about 10 Dollars What happens is that the plastic part of the pigtail becomes brittle and just breaks away so unless you can fabricate new plastic then just buy the pigtail Hope it helps and again sorry for the slow reply |
