super small space=flat sub?

i have a super shallow space for a sub. has anyone worked/ seen/ heard this sub:
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...564759,00.html

is it worth it? the only other option would be to go without a sub as space is limited, and i don't want a big bass box sitting in the cargo area. i listen to all kinds of music and just want the low end reinforced, i'm not looking to rattle the car next to me.

opinions?

Re: super small space=falt sub?

Pioneer subs, especially the shallow ones suck. I wouldnt go with a Pioneer subs, Pioneer makes good headunits and OK speakers. What kind of vehicle is it? How much space are you limited to?

BTW, you can get quality stuff for awesome prices on www.woofersetc.com (That shallow pioneer is $130 on there)

Re: super small space=falt sub?

there is a samll panel on the side of teh cargo ariea that wi removable. behind it is roughly 6" depth, with the size of the panel being about 12" square for the most part.

i guess any shallow-ish sub will work--if they work with those dimensions. do you know of any others?

Re: super small space=falt sub?

Well, a JL 10" W6 has a mounting depth of a lil under 5" that may work for you. But, JL can get a lil pricey. A W3 may fit too. You just have to search. It all depends on how much you want to spend and how much power you want.

Re: super small space=falt sub?

price ins't an issue. mostly size is. i'm just looking for a little low end reinforcement, so i can hear the bass/drum. not looking for rattle power. i'd be using a 200wrms (bridged) amp, so power isn't an issue either.

Re: super small space=falt sub?

Then the JL Audio 10W6AE would work for u. It can go 300 watts(continuous) and it will fit perfectly in the limited space. But, its still about $240 on woofersetc.com.

EBAY.

What vehicle is it going in if price isnt that much of a worry then either a stealth box, or a thunder form would work.

Don't ever look at cars as just imports or domestics. Just because a car is made in a certain country doesn't mean that it is anything like another car from that country. An example of this is Mitsubishi reliability, just because they are Japanese doesn't mean that they are as reliable as a Honda or Toyota.

Re: super small space=falt sub?

honda passport. they don't make a thunderform or stealthbox for it. otherwise i would go that route. i don't want the sub seen from the outside. this "cubby hole" seems to be the best route for that. plus i don't want a huge box sticking itself in my cargo space.

i thought about using the subs i have:
2 12" lanzar(old)
2 12" jl audio (old)
1 12" pioneer(old)
2 8" pyle drive (bleh)

but the magnets all hit the back of the cubby hole (except the 8"--but who would install that crap?)

Re: super small space=falt sub?

I you had an 8 like this you would install it

http://www.soundsplinter.com/rli_ser...formation.html

I want to do a wall of these and i believe it was frymen who helped someone with a quad 8" setup. 8" subs can pump but you need a good sub to get good output. You might have to make a glass box and have the face of the sub stick out about and 1".

Other options ascendant assasin 8, kicker l5/l7 8, re-re8, Or if you want a ten then its still the same mounting depth so it could work like that, theres alot of options but you have to be good with glass to get full potential.

Re: super small space=falt sub?

Ive heard both good and bad things about ED subs but i havent personaly heard many so i cant really say. But you also have to remember that the end result is based on opinion so one persons opinion can be completely ass backwards compared to someone elses.

Re: super small space=falt sub?

Actually Kicker just came out with a shallow mount sub that you might wanna check out on their site... go to kicker.com and look up the CompVT. And it still gets 800watt max
