96 Voyager Flashing Accessory Lights after Battery Change

I installed a new battery & the accessory lights for the rear window wiper, A/C & interior recirculator blower keep flashing for approx. 15 minutes or about 8 miles before they finally go out. This happens every time I turn the car off & restart. Was not doing this before new battery installed. Is there a reset to correct this? Dealer tells me I need to bring it in for repair.

Re: 96 Voyager Flashing Accessory Lights after Battery Change

Start the van and turn on the blower. Simultaniously push the top and bottom wiper buttons on the left side of the ventilation control panel for 5 seconds. All the lights on the panel will light up. Then two lights on the left side will alternately flash for about two minutes and you'll hear the ventilation modes cycle. When just the top light on the left side slowly flashes push that button and you're done. All lights should be out and you should be back to normal. Restart the van a few times and make sure. This is the ventilation control calibration test and it resets the ventilation system computer.

The dealer would have called you back in an hour and said "Mr cgtomahawk, you are a lucky man. All we had to do was calibrate the vent system and the fee is only $80." You would have thought ," I'm sure glad these guys have the know how and equipment to save me all that money". The equipment....two fingers, the know how...a couple sentences in a book.

This could be a good press to test for your dealership. Call them and tell them somebody told you I need to do a ventilation system calibration to fix this and you would like to know how. If they tell you thank your lucky stars you have a dealership with some common sense. If not, take your business elsewhere in the future. Cheers.

Re: 96 Voyager Flashing Accessory Lights after Battery Change

I am having the same issue and always wondered what caused it. I just tried this method and it appeared to be working. But the two lights alternated flashing for much longer than 2 minutes and never stopped. Would the fact that my AC is no longer connected be a factor?

Pretty hard to do a cooldown calibration if the AC is disconnected ....

direland - You don't have to start the van to do this. I just said that to save the battery a little strain. Assuming you disconnected the plug on the compressor, try reconnecting it and redo the test. If it still doesn't work look through this . There may be something there that helps. http://www.allpar.com/fix/codes-climate.html

RIP, Thanks for the instructions, they worked like a dream. Did exactly as stated, yesterday afternoon & all is in working order. I also posted about replaceing the heater hose restrictor valve & having a loss of heat. This ventilation control calibration also took care of this problem & the heat will roast you out.
Thanks again for the top-notch information & a real money saver

Hey that's great news and two birds with one stone to boot. I always get a kick out of helping people keep money in their wallets and out of a dealerships hands. Oh and thanks for "posting the fix". Cheers.

Re: 96 Voyager Flashing Accessory Lights after Battery Change

It's failing the cooldown test. It may have failed because the interior of the van was too cold. Try warming it up for a few minutes first then try the test again. Read the note about half way down here: http://www.visteonclimatecontrolprod...41695_tsbs.htm

Re: 96 Voyager Flashing Accessory Lights after Battery Change

I went for a drive on the van, and after awhile I ran the test on it, and it got rid of the code. But no heat yet on the passenger side.
