You know what's funny...even if you went and bought it for retail price ($599), you are still making money. So anyone that bitches about it not selling for $2k, why don't you just donate that $100 profit to charity or something.

yeah, i could of bought a few, but at 670 with tax included id rather just stick with my xbox 360...

I agree 100%. In time I think I'll buy a WII just for the pure pleausre I'd think it would bring while drunk or when friends are over.

i'll probably buy a wii first, then if i have money i'll buy an xbox 360, then if i still have money i'll buy a ps3. the only real reason for buying the 360 over the ps3 imo is for halo3 and forza motorsport, and maybe a few other series on xbox but those are the big reasons. i just really want to finish the halo series and i love forza motorsport. next year if i get military fundning for university i'll be able to afford them no problem though so i don't think i'll really have a tough choice.

well it'lll be a while before i buy any of them so i'll have time to see what games are out for the wii. i expect it to be more fun because nintendo's had good success at making really fun games in the past, even if they aren't the most flashy.

I own a 360 and I can say I'd rather have it over the PS3. Why do you think I bought it at launch instead of waiting?

The PS3 is said to have exclusives yet they keep going to the 360, like the new Grand Theft Auto 4. The only games that are exclusive to the PS3 are MGS4 and FF13. Neither of them are worth $600.

As for the Wii, looks fun and I hope to try it soon. As the head of Mircrosoft said, "the wii60 is a better deal than the PS3". The Wii gets to the casual market while the 360 gets the more "hardcore". It seems the PS3 will be left with the leftovers.

i heard resistance is awesome with 40 people deathmatches, and online is free, but i also heard its the only game goin for it right now...

I haven't heard jack about Sony's system. I know it's free but I haven't heard a peep as to whether it holds a candle to Live.

Said it before and I'll say it again, the people who WILL buy a PS3 will buy a PS3 no matter what others (i.e you lot) say and no matter what it costs.
Don't forget that the PS2 originally came out at around twice the price of the existing machines too and that did nothing to harm sales.
This doesn't the discount the risk of speculative buying of the limited release of PS3 machines which hindsight, that ever useful tool, has shown here. Of course, that speculation also has no bearing as to
i) how good/bad the machine is
ii) how a proper production run of the PS3 is going to sell.

As far as i can tell, the PS3 is aiming squarely at the mid 20s-30s people with decent pay who can afford to splash cash around on things like the latest digital camera with 10MP, the latest mobile phone, the latest PC with Dual 2.67 Dual Cores, the latest HD projectors and everything else of that ilk. Quite simply, people who are going to quibble over the cost aren't their main market. Another thing, have you guys seen how much a blue ray dvd player is?

1. You're right, the rabbid fanboys will buy one no matter what and I think that most of them have which is why you can go to Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Target, whatever in a lot of places and find Playstation 3s collecting dust on the shelves.

2. The Playstation 2 released for $300. That was not twice the price of exsisting machines. The Nintendo 64 launched at $200. The Original Playstation lanched at $300. Even the Genesis lanched at $200. The Saturn released at $400. The 3DO launched at $700. Hell, the Neo Geo launched at $650.

So the Playstation 2 launch price wasn't bad. It was the same as the X-Box and only $100 more than the GameCube but Nintendo has always had cheaper launch prices. However, look at the last three I listed. All well over $300 and all failed miserably. The fact of the matter is that after the fanboys have had their way you have people that just aren't going to pay that much for a toy.

3. The kind of people you say Sony is aiming this at will buy a dedicated player over a game system. That is, if they even give a rats ass about the problematic Blu-Ray HD-DVD crap.

I just went to Gamestop today. Finally got to play a Wii and then find out they sell out their shipments within five hours. Sucks because I'm thinking of getting one. I then asked him if they had any Playstation 3s. He said they did. I asked him how many and he said, "ummm, we have enough".

The thing that sucks about gamestop is that all their shipments are delivered by UPS and they say they have no idea what they are getting in with each shipment. I went to walmart this week and they finally got in 3 60gb ps3's but they were for the people they gave rainchecks to on launch day. My friend got one off ebay 2 weeks ago for about $700. After playing games like resistance and motorstorm, i will definately be getting on of these systems. The only thing about PS3 is that you can not take full advantage of the blu-ray format and other HD features without a HD TV. On a regular TV, ps3 graphics are about the same as a 360.

I don't think PS3 will cause any changing of sides. Sony fans will get a ps3, xbox fans will get a 360, and nintendo fans will get a Wii, no matter what the launch price is.
