96 Regal Limited

i just bought this reagal about 4 months or so ago and since its been a great car but now im having problems...it has 227000 kms on it i bought it at 189000 i travel alot ..lol okay so since ive got it ive done regular oil changes and had the tranny oil changed filter changed and magnet cleaned. the trany shifts perfectly. Recently its been doing like this chugging or studdering....it mainly does it between 80 kms and 100kms even with cruse on. it seems like when it needs to accel. like up a hill or up to the cruse set it jerks like its kinda trying to die now if you floor it at that point it takes off like normal....personally it seems like when its in over drive it does it and soon as it drops out when u floor it its fine....now it some time does it if i try and take off to fast from a stop as well...k now im getting like 550 to 600kms a tank so im not to sure its effecting fuel consumption. also a few times right after filling the gas tank soon as u started it the rpm would go up and down like i was reving it up and down then quit doing it....i tryed fuel injector cleaner, throttle body cleaner, new air filter, new oil , tranny oil change also had the fuel filter changed....took it to a gm dealer and they couldnt figure it out....im lost as to what it maybe could u guys give me a hand.

If it is jerking or missing while in gear with a pull or load on it and not at the time it is dropping out of or into lockup.
Check spark plugs and ign coils and wires.
Have you noticed any flashing or check engine lights?

well the engine light just came on but this has been doing this for a couple months...the jerking is in gear when u try and accelrate most of the time and when it starts to jerk if you give it alot more gas it will take off and be fine.

Re: 96 Regal Limited

What im trying to say is the engine light has nothing to do with the problem because the light came on before last month got it checked and it was a gas tank air lock or something like that and its likley that again seeing its been acting up for 3 months now

3 months ago nay have been a different deal.
It may be the same check engine light but may be a different problem or a all together different code.
You need to get the codes checked again
It may or not show the problem you are having now.
But is the first step you should take on it.
If you want to get the codes post them back and we may be able to help.
