Question 97 Chevy Cavalier will turn over but will not start

I have replaced the fuel pump two times, have replaced the fuel filter, replaced the crank shaft position sensor and just got done replacing the cataletic convertor. When it is damp out side and raining the cavalier will not start!!Started out the fuel pump went out and at the same time the crank shaft position sensor went out, then it ran fine for about a week and it went down again.Had the fuel pump replaced the second time and it ran fine for about a month. Then then i went to start it about two weeks ago and it would turn over but would not start (at the same time it was raining outside and really damp).left it for a couple of days and tryed to start it and it fired right up(was not raining) took it and had a cat replaced because it was throwing codes. It ran the best yesterday and now i tryed to start it up this morning(it was really damp and pouring the rain) and it would not start up but, would turn over. What is causeing this??? HELP!!

Well if its damp outside, then thats definately a good indication of spark delivery problems. Such as cracked boot covers, cracked spark plug wires, or cracked coils. Somehow dampness is getting near the plugs, or items related to the coils and causing it to short out giving you no spark. Work from these suggestions.

well what makes it even worse it is money that i cannot afford to use but, i have to, to be able to get it fixed since my fiance will be starting chemo.A friend of mine said it sounded like the ignition module to him.Garage will be open weds. and i will take it back to him and be there when he checks it out this time.also another friend of mine told me i could spray silicone over the coils and the module to weatherproof it!!

Yes there is Ignition Spray you can buy as a temporary fix, however don't let it fool you into thinking it will fix it. You could drive around for 6 months with that silicone spray and never have any problems, but it will eventually come back, and at probably the most unconvienent time and leave you stranded, lol.

Re: 97 Chevy Cavalier will turn over but will not start

well far as i know i figuered it out.One the car had the wrong spark plugs and the gap was way way off, another was one of the plug wires was burnt into and those were causing the miss it had but also the bad plug wire was all so the cause of it not wanting to start when it was raining out, thanks everyone.
