Repairing a Wheel Hub\BackPlate

I have an 89 Buick Century 3.3, the problem is with the driverside rear wheel. Once the Drum is put on, it rubs and makes a grinding sound, it seems to be rubbing against the back plate(the big round thing the hub and everything else is connected to). Tried bending it back about 100 times but its really no help. Its not rubbing against the brakes and its not the drum. I figured it would have to be replaced, it apears to be 4 hex-screws hoding the hub in place, will this also release the backplate? I was also told I could grind the backplate down to repair the problems, what do you guys think?

I would go to a junk yard and either remove it myself or go with a parts puller who will remove it for you. Make sure to install all shims as they are used for rear wheel alignment.
Do you see bare spots where all rust was rubbed off. A lot of the time a spring isn't installed properly and it rubs the inside of the drum. If this is the case you will also see wear spots where the spring rubbed.
If this is the case remove the other rear wheel and install the springs the same way.
Try removing the other drum and swap sides. When your sure go to a junk yard for replacement parts. Also look at your bearings on this wheel and make sure they are good. You might have the wrong bearing number.
