tv's and computers

i know this doesnt have to do with cars, BUT it is off topic........

i just rearranged my room today, and i have my computer sitting about 2 feet from my television. the monitor is about 1 foot away. when i have the television on, the monitor has reeaallly faint tiny lines going across the screen. It doesnt really bother me, but i was wondering, is this damaging the computer, monitor, or television, by having them so close together? The tv doesnt have any problems, just the monitor, and its the only problem that i can see.

Probably just interference from the TV. I don't think it is damaging it, but you could probably fix it if you moved the TV away from the monitor.

Re: tv's and computers

Is the monitor and/or TV a CRT?

Re: tv's and computers

Gotta be CRT. You'll usually find in the fine print something like "This device must allow all interference...etc". LCD and CRT operate much differently than each other and LCD isn't prone to the type of interference CRT is (magnetism, etc.)

Move one or the other across the room, all your worries will be cured.

Re: tv's and computers

yeah i know it has to be some type of interference, i was pretty much just wondering if it would damage anything. the monitor is just a crappy dell 18" and the tv is a regular sony 32", neither are anything special like LCD or whatever.

Re: tv's and computers

Why don't you just hook the computer up to your TV? Eliminate the 18"
