Looking At Picking Up A Wrangler... Anything To Look For?
I've always wanted a Jeep Wrangler and it looks like February is the time I'm going to go looking. Probably buying a 2000 era vehicle... anything I should look out for in the used Jeep marketplace?

I would recommend you find a I6 engine (6 cylinder) and four wheel drive. A hard top and hard doors (as in the summer you can always take them off and replace in winter), besides the fact that they are much quieter driving along on the highways. A properly install lift kit would be nice, but not a must (you can install one yourself), and if there is a winch installed that would be a bonus. The more goodies that are installed will save you time (and work if you do it yourself). Basically find one that you like the color; and by all means DO YOUR HOMEWORK ON PRICING. You don't want to get shafted in the wallet. I always look in Kelly Blue Book Listings for what the dealer cost will be, what the trade in value is, and what is the private sellers listing (Find a happy median). This will give you a better idea of what you should pay for your Jeep And one last thing BE PATIENT!!! Keep Us posted on your outcome.

Soft tops are warmer though ... yes ... I know it doesn't make sense.

Re: Looking At Picking Up A Wrangler... Anything To Look For?
Interested in a near-mint condition 93 Wrangler? 6 cyl, 4 wheel drive, manual trans...everything original except for the radio. Black on black hardtop. Garage kept - rarely an overnight on the street. Never had a problem until the recent water pump which I am replacing as we speak. Also a minor gas tank leak which I will address in the next few days. I have been meaning to sell for quite some time but could never build up enough courage! Although nearly all my vehicle usage is with my 2001 Ford Econoline XLT, the Jeep has been too valuable during the winter snows in Chicago!
I know I am asking the higher range of Blue Book value, but my Jeep has been pampered and well kept...and remains in excellent condition. $8,500. I can be reached at [email protected] Best regards, Roger |

If possible when you come across one you are looking at, take a peek under the carpet.
