I just replaced the fuel filter in my 2002 Elantra, which is located in the gas tank, and now my car won't start. I disconnected the fuel line and I have gas coming out of the top when I turn my key on. I've taken the filter out 4 times to verify that everything is the way I took it out and it is... But car will not start. Is there a switch that has to be reset somewhere? I looked in my manual but couldn't find one. Anybody out there that might hve a clue as to what might be wrong?

Re: 2002 Elantra fuel filter
Thanks Scrapper. And "YES"... unfortunatedly, the fuel filter "IS" in the gas tank; so it's a pain in the "u-know-what" to keep checking things. I'll pull it apart again and make sure everything is tight and clear of any debris.

OK!!!! I'm stupid. After taking the filter out for the 5th time, I looked at the old filter(sure glad I didn't throw it away yet). You were right, Scrapper. There was a washer inside the hole where the pump goes into, so I wasn't getting the pressure I should have been getting. After installing the washer, it started right up. Thanks for the help. U da MAN.
