Headers - Long vs. Short

What is the difference between long and short headers when buying for a GMC 88 350 - 4wd. Thanks.

Long tube headers will give you a lot more power and IMO they sound a hell of a lot better than the shorties.

I am guessing as long as they don't say "Short/Shorties" they are long tubes right?
