Unhappy 2002 ram van 3500 alternator woes

How do I adjust the tension on the belt when instaling the alternator? I don't know if it makes a diference, but the engine is a 5.2 liter.

Welcome on your first post.
Does it not have a self adjusting tensioner?
If the belt does not slip/squeal/jump off under a full charge it is usually OK
How many miles on it?
