aurora mpg

Hi:
My 95 Aurora does only 8-9 mpg. Is that mpg common or do I have a problem?
I got no lights on and the car runs ok but sometimes when I’m doing 40-50 mph the car feels like is chocking.

Re: aurora mpg

you definately have problems, you should see 20-25 mpg minimum.

Re: aurora mpg

Could be a bad O2 Sensor, but you should have a "check engine light".
Take it to Autozone or somewhere & have them check for codes.

Re: aurora mpg

Sorry, just realized it's a '95. Can't get it scanned at Autozone.

Re: aurora mpg

I also changed the spark plugs ,the wires, fuel pressure regulator, gm changed the fuel lines when they did the recall like 2 yr ago, and I also changed the fuel filter and many other things so I have no idea what I could be. If anyone can help me with this I would appreciate it.

Re: aurora mpg

This may seem too simple, but did you change the air filter and clean the screen?

Re: aurora mpg

then you might check out the air flow sensor - I had a nissan 300 and the change made a huge difference.

Re: aurora mpg

95 don't have MAF screens, only MAP sensor.
