89 Cressida Battery Light on Occasionally

Hi,

My 89 Cressida has the battery light on and off occasionally. It happens frequently at a stop. Also when the battery light is on the AC fan also temporally stop and back on again.
Does it means that my alternator is going?



My battery had a corrosion problem 1~2 month ago. Since then, I have used terminal cleaner to clean it. About a week ago, I replaced the battery. However, the symptom comes back again.

So, what could be wrong?

I would remove the battery cables from the battery and use some baking soda and water and get them real clean. After you reinstall them put some greese on them. Also check the ground connection.
Use a volt meter and check the charging rate at idle with the headlights and heater defroster on. You should have around 14volts if this is to low go to Advance or Auto Zone and get your charging system checked free.

The problem comes from alternator. The old alternator is going. I brought the old alternator to Pepboy for a test. It failed the test.

So, I install a new alternator. It seem fine now. So far so good.
