damn viruses

i'm an idiot, i know you shouldn't click on a link if you don't know wtf it is, but anyways i was talking to someone and they sent me something, clicked it, and got a virus. anyways, i downloaded some software that 2.2 told me to get, worked like a charm. pretty much just a reminder for everyone to make sure you know what people are sending you over msn/aim/whatever messaging service you use.

Re: damn viruses

What did he tell you to get? There are a few good *free* antivirus programs floating around on the net, just wondering which one he mentioned.

Re: damn viruses

avast, i got a 60 day free trial. could probably download one with bitorrent but i can't be bothered. i reformat my computer every year to ge rid of all the jnk i don't need and just to start fresh so i don't worry much about viruses.

I was gonna recommend AVG also, but I think they are going to start charging for it. I put it on my sister's computer awhile back, and now she keeps getting a message everytime she starts her computer that her AVG free service is going to end in like a month and that if she wanted to continue with the service to buy it. I have also seen a lot of people using Anti Vir.

Re: damn viruses

i had a bad experience with AVG, it didn't really do much for me, there was a worm going through the network at school and avg didn't do anything but somethin else did, don't remember what though.

Re: damn viruses

Maybe Norton? My school uses that, pretty decent, but there all pretty much the same, but some get the update before others do, i know what u mean about not trusting it tho, i dont trust spy sweeper, uses way to much memory, and slows the system down so much, not woth it i dont think

Re: damn viruses

Avast. Norton is a virus itself, and the others just take up place and RAM.

Re: damn viruses

Nortons overrated.

You need spyware doctor 4.0 (Or newest version) Works great. It's about 20$ an it's worth it.
