Hello! before you go and start pulling things appart, you want to make sure all your lights are working. Most cars when you have a burn out bulb, you will get funny and wierd acting from the turn signals. I'll recomend you turn your truck on and turn all the lights on. Go outside and make sure all your linghts are working. Once you have stablish that they are, then start with the turning signals one at a time and so on including brake lights. I hope this will solve your problem. Please let us know.

Re: 02 Expidition, Turn signal, making noise inside, works intermittant
after checking all lights and if they are all ok
the problem is more than likely the multifunction switch (turn signal switch) they are a very common problem with most Fords . Can be accessed by removing trim around steering column , usually 3or 4 Phillips head screws , you should remove igniton cyl ( insert key, place small screw driver in hole and turn key to on pos. and pull cyl. out ) to gain easier access, and tilt wheel lever . The switch is held in place by 2 t20 torx screws and 2 electrical connectors . This is not as hard as it may seem maybe 1/2 hour job

Re: 02 Expidition, Turn signal, making noise inside, works intermittant
I had the same situation with my 98 Expedition. I had the multifunction switch replaced under an extended warranty twice. It happened again (sounds like a coarse buzzing in the column). I found that if I put the tilt wheel down, it happens. When it happens I put the tilt wheel down all the way, and then put it back in the original place and it clears up for a while. I have to think there is some kind of connector that is loose or bad in there.
