97 Suburban Turn Signal Connection

Hello
I am looking for some help on how to disconnect the turn signal switch wires from the wiring block. My brother has a 97 Surburban and is needing to replace this he and my dad have gotten stuck in the process because they can't get the connection on the old turn signal connection that is located in the wiring harness apart. Any tips or anything would be awesome we are running into a wall here. Dad has worked for several hours and has just about given up. Any place we could find a diagram of the wiring or instructions on how to get this apart would be awesome. My brothers brake lights wouldn't work and that is how they ended up at this point. Thanks in advance for any help you all can offer me

Re: 97 Suburban Turn Signal Connection

I know man, some of these connectors are a real PITA!! I haven't had to take that one apart yet. The deal is to really look at it and figure out what's holding it together. Sometimes you have to push on a small plunger, sometimes you have to use a very small screwdriver to lift off of a tang clip, sometimes the tangs are at both ends or at the top and bottom so you really have to work at it. Any diagram or manual you get won't tell you how to get it apart. Sounds like you guys have done some trouble shooting to get you where you're at. Hope it works out and please let us know.
