Plug wires for 2002 Monte SS

I am trying to decide on what plug wires to get for a 02 monte carlo ss with a 3.8. I found some racing wires for 119.00 at http://www.3800performance.com/Merch...roduct_Count=1 would they be worth it or should I just stay with oem wires?

I'd stick with just the regular ones.. better MPG probably out of those anyway, but I could be wrong.

Re: Plug wires for 2002 Monte SS

I've always stuck by the old saying, "Keep your GM car all GM." Out of the 15 or 16 GM cars I've owned over the past 20+ years, I've had the chance to use aftermarket wires, Many ended up causing problems and I went back to AC Delcos and the problems disappeared. Same with the plugs. GM spends millions of dollars in research for products to work with their vehicles and they meet the specs for all operating ranges. Early in my automotive career, I sold auto parts and had many returns by customers who owned GM vehicles and used aftermarket (non-OEM) plugs and/or wires. There were many driveability complaints and poor quality of product. When OEM prts were reinstalled, their complaints ceased and the customer was generally happy. I even use AC Delcos on my '64 Bel Air which has many high performance modifications, including a high performance HEI ignition system. The wires can handle what the coil puts out without any issues. I had an aftermarket set of wires on it previously,(recomended by an 'expert' engine rebuilder,) and they started giving me problems within 6 weeks. The wire's jacket started to fail, the boot at the end started separating, and at night it looked like a mini fireworks display under the hood. Switched to AC Delcos and the car ran fine after that.

I have always been told to stick with AC Delco, but if you try the after markets let me know how they turn out. Im going to be on the same mission soon.

Keep in mind the spend millions trying to make product work for as CHEAP as possible. Upgrading wires is not a bad idea. I used Taylor Performance Wires when I tuned up my 4.3 Blazer and they worked GREAT. My monte will need a tune in about 10,000 miles and I will use Taylor again. The red wires look great in the engine bay and they are TOP Quality. The boots are 100% better than factory.

Stay away from cheap plugwires from Autozone and Advanced, all I hear are problems with them.Only aftermarket plugwires I would go with are from Carquest, the top of the line ones.
