05 jetta handling

Help...I have had many vws, including my last (98) with aftermarket KYB shocks...a little firmer than stock, but a good controlled ride. We purchased a 2005 (old bdy style) and it came with Michelin Energy rubber. The handling, cornering seems to leave a lot to be desired. Too much body lean, and the tires seem way to skinny. I have 15 inch stock alloys and want to stay at the 15" size for now. Then new struts after the stocks go away!! Suggestions?
