92 PAU stalls while driving

Hi,
My 1992 PAU stalls while driving. It starts ok, and then will run ok until warmed up a bit, then stalls at an idle too. If you give it gas, and hold at about 2500 rpm, its smooth, but will cut out and then recatch. Driving it, it will just stall at any speed, and sometimes you can restart, and sometimes you have to wait a bit.

Any Ideas? I have checked grounds, and they are clean. Is there a seperate ground for the PCM? I saw thats the most important thing to check first. Do you have to remove the PCM to get the ground?

Thanks

Sounds like Crankshaft Sensor.. usually throws a code 41 Camshaft sensor.

The sensors seem to slowly fail alot on these 3800s... Camshaft sensor just controls fuel pulses.. and wont kill the engine.

Take a jug of water with you and cool it down its at the 3 o'clock position on the wheel.. see if it restarts frequently when cooled.. or better.. get it to fail in your driveway with a water hose ready.

You have to pull the Harmonic balancer wheel.. to replace it.. $200 shop $45 home.

Good Luck

Thanks, I am going to check that. Maybe I will get lucky and all there is is a loose connection. It usually does run fine till the engine gets a bit warmed up. I hope thats all it is, dont want to nickel and dime away trying to figure it out.
Thanks again.
