Hi folks I'm new here and need some help. I have a 95 bonny with 130k on it. Recently it started to just die. While driving the motor will just stop, will crank with no problem. After sitting for a while it will restart. I have noticed that when this occurs, there is a voltage drop to the power windows, locks, and interior lights. When power returns to these items the car will restart.
Where should I start looking???

Watch during the night with the headlights on, or with a voltmeter.

It seems to have a alternator or wiring problem.

If the engine dies before the engine winds down then it may be the Crankshaft sensor..

Elsewise, alternator or its wiring.

hello welcome.i have had this exact problem.there is a grounding buss between the drivers seat and door under carpet.usaully you can clean it with a wire brush and electrical parts cleaner.sumtimes it returns tho in the end i ran a 12 guage wire from battery ground to the buss.since i did this it hasnt happened agin its been a long time now hope this helps you out.


it look like a clip with around 10 black wires coming out.somewhere on the forum there is a pic

Here's where the previously mentioned ground buss is located.
I'd bet a paycheck that's your problem.




Here's what a corroded one looks like.
Clean everything & reassemble with some dielectric grease.
If it ever stalls again you'll know exactly where to kick.

Quick note suggestion above could very well be the issue, I have experienced a similar problem as yours turned out I lost Block to H Frame ground. Ran a new wire from the oil pan bolt to the h frame and took care of all problems.

If it is the same as the 96 bonneville, there is a ground connection bridge under the carpet, on the drivers' side, right near the front of the door frame. pull the carpet out from under the plastic trim located beside the seat. You will find a connector with about 8 to 10 ground wires. take off the black cover. you will find a strip of metal that connects all the grounds together. pull it out. You will see corrosion on some of the terminals. clean them with a wire wheel and reassemble. These are all the major ground connections for the car. The fuel pump grounds here as well. This is what is causing your electrical problem and why your car is stalling. I discovered this while searching this site in the past. And, it was correct. It cured the troubles with the bonneville I was working on.

There is another bridge (like the one on the drivers side) located on the passenger side. Check all of these grounds.
