96 3.8l brakelight/abs
I know this forum is for Trans Sports but I get better responses here. I have a 96 Firebird with a 3.8l and I just replaced the metal fuel lines that run the length of the car and while under there I noticed that the brake line that runs to the back of the car was also rotted and leaking only at the point where the line was clamped to the body. The rest of the metal line was quite fine. I cut a 15" section out and replaced the section the following day. I got all the new fuel lines in along with the new section of brake line. I kinda figured I'd have air in the line and would have to bleed the brakes. I started the car and got the brake light and the pedal is weak. I turned it off and tried bleeding the front calipers as much as I could until I ran out brake fluid to add to resovour. I need to get some this morning when stores open. I just was wondering if the brake light is on because of the air in the system? The brakes worked fine prior to replacing section of line. I just didnt think that the light should be on.Any suggestions? |

Re: 96 3.8l brakelight/abs
Well..the rear brake lines have air...so you need bleeding the rear wheels brake cylinders. Yes the light comes ON because there is mismatch between the relative piston travel in the master cylinder.

Thank you again LMP. You are always the most intellegent and prompt person on these forums. BTW, the 93 Trans Sport is still running.
