99 Grand Am 2.4 O2 sensor (rear) question

Which of the following is the connector for the rear o2 sensor on the 2.4? I am going to buy an 02 simulator and need to know which I need. I have spent the last two days changing the water pump and various other minor repairs. I failed to look for the connector for the o2 sensor while I was under the hood.

There is a chart at the bottom of the page with several different GM connectors in the following link.

You will have to look for your self as they very from the 1-3 wire connectors.

Also you will see NO HP gains without the CAT

You will only be contributing to Global Warming and wasting fuel.

Good Luck!

Re: 99 Grand Am 2.4 O2 sensor (rear) question

I do have a catalytic converter in fact I recently replaced it. My wife bottomed out pulling out of a gas station and the catalist was loose and rattling inside the exhaust pipe. The factory resonator was removed due to the chunks clogging the inside of it. It makes the exhaust a little louder but seems to flow better. The added flow gives my o2 sensor a faulty reading. Rather than spend the money to replace the o2 sensor which only watches catalist efficiency I decided to by the simulator for less than half the price. I also don't want to have the exhaust redone.

Besides the catalytic convertor lasted for 190,000 miles I hope the next one will last as long. The car is at 206,000 and other than fuel pump and coil packs, plugs, and the waterpump (I replaced it Thurs and Friday), it has been great. At this point, if the transmission fails I'll just replace it and keep driving.

It has been a great car - the timing components looked new when I had the cover off - the coolant passages were spotless (Dexcool is great). What more can I say.

Re: 99 Grand Am 2.4 O2 sensor (rear) question

I see, The O2 sims I saw were about $70-80.
You should be able to get the O2 sensor for that at Napa or someother parts store.

The reason the down steam is probly bad is that those chunks hit and its broken.

You'll still need to check which one you have though.

Good Hunting and have a Great New Year!
