close enough. why do you need a resistor to charge a cap? maybe a better question is why do you need a cap?

Re: where can i get the resistor to charge my cap?
thanx, I just want my system to last longer while the truck is off, I've had that cap since I was 15, I think I have to re-charge it because the truck's battery doesn't last as long as it used to...... so, Paul could I pretty much use any resistor?

Re: where can i get the resistor to charge my cap?
i thought you only had to hook up a 12v source to it to get it to charge

Re: where can i get the resistor to charge my cap?
silverado ...... the cap has nothing to do with the battery being low. The cap will charge to whatever voltage the battery or alternator is. Use like a 500 or 1k ohm resistor, and you should store it with the resistor "shorting" the cap inputs.
playstation .... that is correct, you don't HAVE to use a resistor to charge the cap, it's just prevents it from sparking when you hook it up. |
