Question on installing shiftplus
I will be picking up a B&M Shiftplus within the next couple weeks, just curious if anyone has installed one of these and what to watch for. I was reading a post on here one day and someone commented you could end up with a CE light staying on all the time. Just want to know how far into any harnesses/sensors I'll be digging to install this. Thanx in advance

Re: Question on installing shiftplus
The install is pretty straight forward. two wires on the trans plug. The whole install takes less than ten minutes. If you don't mix up the wires you wont throw any codes. When my shiftplus is on i get the "trac off" light in both stages but nothing else. And it works great. I can post pics of the correct wires if you want. just don't use the connectors that come with it they suck.

Re: Question on installing shiftplus
Appreciate the response, so the only thing thrown is a trac off light. Two wires seems pretty straightforward. I've got plenty of electrical connectors and multiple types so using somehting better won't be a problem. Pics would be outstandingly helpful. Thanx again

Re: Question on installing shiftplus
sorry for crappy pics it's dark and i only have a few from when i first got it. ill take some new ones tomorrow and post it for you. Two wire come out of the shiftplus black and red. Black is spliced into the light blue w/ white stripe wire on the upper-leftmost part of the plug. The red wire from the shiftplus splices into the red w/ thick black stripe directly below the light blue wire. There are a few red wires with black stripes on the plug but the one you want is right below the blue w/ white stripe. like i said ill have better pics up tomorrow.

Re: Question on installing shiftplus
Awesome man, ppreciate the pics. I ordered mine on the 29th, so I'm just waitin for it to come in the mail. Looks pretty straightforward. So it's a splice into the wires on the plug, not clipping the wires and bypassing it into the shiftplus wires, right?

Re: Question on installing shiftplus
Right you are splicing the wires not cuting them. Hope these pics are a little better help. Oh and use a 3/8 in drill to punch a hole in the firewall to run the shiftplus into the dash. you can try to push the cable through the gasket thing in the firewall but it is tough. hope these help.

Re: Question on installing shiftplus
it's a thing for 4 speed auto trans that makes the clutch band clamp faster, causing faster and harder shifts. it has two stages to pick from one is slightly stiffer than stock and two is really strong shifts. I drive in one all the time and haven't had any issues with it. Basically, it's a clutch kit for an automatic.

Re: Question on installing shiftplus
So you can "shift" with this thing installed in your car? shift like a manual? Im so lost lol
Or all this thing does is improve the automatic shifting, u still dont shift at all right? |

Re: Question on installing shiftplus
the cheapest i've found them is:
http://www.turbotechracing.com/produ...idproduct=1136 It still shifts like an automatic the shifting is simply much stiffer and responsive. There is no lag in while the trans is shifting gears. For example in Wide Open Throttle and in stage two on the shiftplus my tires chirp shifting from first into second.

Re: Question on installing shiftplus
ya, it basicly makes an automatic shift like a manual.
hey matt, how long have you kept it on stage 1? cuz i heard that if you keep the shiftplus on all the time, it ruins the tranny over time. idk tho, they might have only meant keeping it on stage 2. also, i heard some say that you can change the stage up while the car is on and others say you have to have the car off no matter what to change the stage. which one is true? i got mine for xmas =)

Re: Question on installing shiftplus
I've had mine in for about 3 months on stage one all the time w/ no issues. I changed the trans fluid right before the install just for kicks. I've heard of people using it on one all the time for a year or so with no major problems either. I think it a case of "don't drive the shit out of your car and take care of it when it needs it and you'll be fine."
My understanding is the car has to be off to move up or down in any stage. I belive ECU reads the signal when the car first starts and doesn't read it again untill the car is started again. It holds true for mine. I can flip the switch all day while it's running with no change. I can see how stage 2 can hurt the trans after a while. it's really strong and i personally think it should only be used on the track for short periods of time. But stage 1 makes driving a lot more fun and you don't get the feeling that things are breaking when you shift, like you do in stage 2
