2000 engine dead
My wife's 2000 Isuzu Rodeo engine died about a month ago and it needs either be rebuilt or needs a used engine. The problem is that a rebuilt engine will cost around $6000 and and used between $3 to $4000, because the engine for that model and year was only used for that year and for only two vehicles.
Do any of you reading this know of anyone that might be able to help us find an engine that would be more reasonable in price? Thanks |

Re: 2000 engine dead
according to www.car-parts.com a 1998-2000 engine will work. Now the major difference between the 1998, 99 to the 2000 is the 2000 had the drive by wire accelerator peddle.
Now the bottom end on the 98-04 is the same, so you could unbolt the upper half of the engine and move it to the used block. here is a link to a company that sells rebuilt lower ends for under 3k http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Isuzu...66796981QQrdZ1 There is also a guy I know that is an isuzu tech that can get new lower ends too (not sure on the price). What happened to the current engine?

Re: 2000 engine dead
My wife was driving on the interstate, when all of the sudden it lunged forward and seized. It burned ALOT of oil, but didn't leak. I believe that it burned all of the oil. My wife had it towed to a mechanic and were told by them that it either needs a rebuilt or used engine.
