my intro and fuel economy question

Hi,

Just wanted to stop by and introduce myself. I'm Sebastian and have been a member of AF since...a really long time. M3's have been my dream car since the OLD E30s. I used to have a 1982 320i, a big benz, an integra and I recently bought a 2003 M3.

I totaled my integra driving to work in October and decided to splurge and by an m3. It is white on gray with aluminum trim with warranty/maintenance till Jan 2010. It took me a really long time to find the perfect one (I was looking for a stick shift hard top and had been browsing car websites for this car since the beginning of the year. I finally found my car and, as a bonus, it had navigation. even though I didn't really care for it, now I will never buy a car without it.

BTW, I am 23 and live in los angeles. I have been looking for stuff to upgrade on the car (I’m staying away from engine mods because it has plenty of power for me already). I will be getting the icelink for my car as a gift in the next 2 weeks. After that, I am looking to add the bluetooth compatibility, back-up camera and possibly TV/DVD functionality. I have found the prices for the equipment to be quite staggering/borderline insane. Anyone have a place that they can pick up this stuff used? Maybe even just the bluetooth modulator or TV modulator?

Something that has quite annoyed me with the car is the fuel economy gauge. I find the thermostat in its place pretty useless. Is there anyone to digitally display the instantaneous economy either below the speedometer or on the navigation screen? I really don't care what I need to do to get this to happen. If I must, I will be willing to add a gauge somewhere to the car or get a carputer. Is there some easter egg or advanced setting in the navigation menu to display the economy? I found the "easter egg" that displays the fuel consumption below the speedometer, but it is in a unit that is useless to me (I am looking for mpg) and it shuts off after you turn off the car.

Thanks for your help and I look forward to being part of this new forum.

Sebastian
