I'm back!

Hey everyone! I was gone trying not to fail my classes. But I'm on break now so I thought I'd get back on the forum. Seems like some stuff has changed since I was gone. I see some new mods.

So you guys will never guess what happened to my car while I was at my GF's...

A tree fell on it! It smashed my hood, put a dent the size of a basketball in my fender, dented my roof, and possibly dented the rear quarter. Insurance covered it though. They were pretty nice about it but they wouldn't fix two dents in the rear quarter panel because "there was probably work done there before and the bondo might flake off and we'll have to repaint the whole panel which willl be $1200, and maybe the whole side of you car which would make us declare it 'totalled'." So they just gave me $250 to live with it. They also only sprayed the underside of the hood with like 1 coat of paint and no clearcoat which I thought was pretty shitty.

Anyway, hope everyone had a great xmas!

Re: I'm back!

Wow, Lol funny thing is that it looks like everyone else parked in a nice line away from where it fell and you for some reason parked 10 feet farther away right where it landed. I'm glad it all worked out for you though. Welcome back!

Cool man, good to see you. I was just looking through some old threads the other day and wonder when you fell off the face of the earth. Sorry to hear about your car, but glad its fixed.

Re: I'm back!

The underside of the hood wasn't clearcoated before, I'm 99% sure. I know when I repaint hoods, the underside never gets cleared, I've never seen one that way. They get a coat of paint to give them some color, but that's it, you never see it anyways.

Sucks what happened to your car man, but it could have been worse if you were parked like 5 feet more towards the driveway and 3 feet more ahead, then it woulda crushed the whole thing. I'm curious as to why you were parked way back there anyways?

Re: I'm back!

I'm parked over there because her family parks at the top of the driveway (those 3 cars) and I have to park off to the side in this half mud/grass, half driveway area so they can get around me when they leave. The only way out is down that drivaway. The funny thing is I just started parking ass first a month before the tree fell, and that day I got out of the car after parking it and thought "hmm, maybe I should pull a little more up...naa whatever." Lol, damn. It happened at like 2 in the morning. My gf and her family woke me up and told me there was a tree on my car. I really just thought they were messing with me until I walked outside.

Lol, yeah I've been thinking about that a lot. I haven't talked to blackcrow or anyone about it yet, but I'll pm them. Hopefully we can get it up and running before we get old and grey.

Re: I'm back!

Oi... hate to say this but the graphics on that site suck lol, no offense. If we really want this to be a good site, the graphics need to look much more professional. Other than that, the layout is good, just need to update it with some info and stuff.

WTF?? How are those graphics bad? Its a nice clean layout. Your site sucks! The load time is horrible because all of your mini images load the actual full size image so its freakin slow for even DSL users like me. At least mine loads just about instantaniously.

Re: I'm back!

The graphic don't suck, but the layout makes me think more of a personal page than an information base. What's going to be in the middle of the page?

Thats where all the homepage information, updates, etc will be. On each specific page thats where the related information will be posted... I thought it was a rather well layout...

Yeah I'll talk to Nova about it. I think he was busy with school and crap. I wasn't trying to say it was your fault. Hell, if it's anyone's fault it's mine. Well..yeah it is my fault.
EDIT: I PMed Nova.

In my opinion the site should always be evolving and improving. So you guys saying you don't like something, well it can always be improved. I think that should be one of the great features of dsm-one--user input to improve it. But I personally think Blackcrow has done a nice job on the graphics part, with an emphasis on loading times.

Btw, congrats on the mod position blackcrow.
