Leak at tranny, small pan??
I was in the process of changing all of my brakes on my 01 4wd passport and noticed that there was a leak coming from the small pan on the tranny. None of my local part stores show a lising for this part and my local honda dealer ( they really suck) also doesnt seem to be able to find this part #. Does anyone happen to know the part # so i can call them with it so maybe i can get one. Thanks, ps automatic transmission

Re: Leak at tranny, small pan??
here's a honda dealer with an online parts ordering with a good database with illustrations etc. it looks like if you click on #74 that gets you the part number and their price etc
http://www.slhondaparts.com/browse.a...ViewParts=true edit but you might want to start at the beginning of the process 'cause i don't know for sure i entered all your data correctly http://www.slhondaparts.com/ hth //bc

Re: Leak at tranny, small pan??
I checked the leak and it looks to be coming from the small pan itself. It seemed dry above the pan at the piston. I know i am probably wrong but i figured it was worth a try first. I went to my local honda dealership and they basically charged me more than list for the gasket and i had to get them the part # because their trusty help could not seem to find it in their database. If it wasnt for trying to get it done this weekend i would never go there again. They also had no idea about the piston gasket and told me to find the part #'s and maybe then they could help me
. I guess i will just wait until i go back to work and visit the service center where i work and see if they can help me order the other parts just to be safe. Since i work for Honda maybe i can get them to replace the leaky piston problem cheap!! I did see in the tsb that they would sometimes fix this problem even if out of warranty under some weird clause.

Re: Leak at tranny, small pan??
I got the pan gasket today. I havent had a chance to put it on yet. I will probably get to it hopefully this coming week. If this doesnt cure the leak i guess i will have to take it to the service center at Honda to get the accumulator piston replaced. I see you need special tools to get it in and out. I went to my local dealer today and first they said they had never heard of it and then all of a sudden when i gave them the tsb they were like oh yeah, we would fix it even thought it is out of warranty but you didnt buy the vehicle here so we cant do it for you. I let them know that i plan on buying a new Honda this coming year and it definitely would not be from them!

Re: Leak at tranny, small pan??
The closest Isuzu dealer is about 2 hours away. I think i am going to check with the Honda service center where i work and see if they can do anything for me. If not do you think an isuzu dealer would be better to deal with? Even being out of warranty? If i cant get my service center to get me going i may try to call the closest isuzu dealer. Does anyone know the approximate price to get this fixed if they will not cover it?

Re: Leak at tranny, small pan??
I had new pan gaskets put on both big & small transmission pans this summer - with new filter & fluid the total came to $150 I think.
