Code p0118 Heat Sensor

First of all, Merry Christmas to all. I have a 98 WS which I've fixed various times recently and finally got it to work well for about a week. My check engine suddenly came on and has been on since. I took it to AZ and was told that the error code P0118 was showing up as the problem. Anyone got some good ideas on what to look for? Thanks for the help!

IAT-ECT/engine coolant sensor/ sensors or low on coolant or thermostat or wiring and plugins.
Is the IAT intake air sensor pluged in?
Like in you forgot to plug it back up when you had the air intake hose/air filter off?
Is the rad full of coolant?
Is the engine heating up to full running tempt?
If all of that is ok you will need to get it on a engine capable scanner and read out the IAT-ECT tempt sensors in the PCM.
Let us know how it goes.

Re: Code p0118 Heat Sensor

On my '96, there are 2 temperature sensors located next to each other into the lower intake manifold.
1 is for the temperature gauge, the other is for the PCM.
The one closest to the firewall is the one for the PCM....it is by the heater hose.
The one for the gauge is more by the upper radiator hose.

The Input Air Temperature sensor is located in the flex hose that goes from the MAF / Air filter unit to the throttle body.

I have a pictures of these posted right next to each other

Your '98 is most likely very similar.

Re: Code p0118 Heat Sensor

I believe the coolant sensor was replaced about 2 months ago when I was working on my WS. I got a code P0118 when I had it checked and this was the message I got " The PCM determined that the input from the engine coolant temperature sensor is higher than expected for the current engine operating conditions." Anyone got any ideas on this? Thanks for all the help and advice.

Make sure engine is full of coolant and not overheating and not air locked.
Then check ECT sensor and plug in and wiring and pcm.
What engine does it have?
