Re: water leak ??

Take a garden hose and run water in the area closest to where your finding the water at. I agree about slapping the mechanic who ripped you told you it was the heater core, hell I would like to slap him.

Re: water leak ??

The following fixed the problem on my '97 Grand Prix GT. I thought it was because I had a new windshield put in, but it wasn't. The water only appeared when the car was sitting still in a rain storm, didn't happen when driving in rain. It was weird.

Here goes: Raise the hood, removed the windshield wipers, you might have to use a small gear puller, (be sure and mark your wiper arms so you put them back on at the same angle), remove the hard plastic shield underneath the wipers at the base of the windshield. the rubber gasket is probably just hanging down there, instead of along the edge of the firewall. This is supposed to divert the water to the sides of the fan opening instead of right down on it. I used silicon to put mine back, so it wouldn't come loose again.

Hope this helps.

first, you will have to remove windshield wipers from car, remove winsdhield cowl off car ,there are several plastic screws and a few metals screws ,look for a seal on p/s on corner, when this rots you will get a leak when it rains,or when you wash the car ,if you had a bad heater core ,you would smell coolant and have a coolant residual on inside w glass and of course a coolant leak

Re: water leak ??

This seems to be such a common problem and comes up so often it should damn near be stickied.
