89 astro wont start

battery is fully charged. starter bench tested as being bad. Replaced the starter but still nothing. when you turn it over there is nothing, not even a click. tempeture gauge does go all they way up when you try to turn it over, the headlights dont dim, mut the clock on the radio goes out completly while trying to turn over. Thank you for any help.

Is there power at the purple wire at the starter while the switch is in the start position? Is the trans selector in PARK or NEUTRAL? Try it in both.
