Re: my tamiya yamaha YZF R-1

today i put on the fron fork and wheel, finished up with the annoying vinyl tubes. the red on the fender is the red i will use for the whole bike. got in a lil drama with the gas tank today... but it will be fixed sometime this week. and hopefully i will get the bike done by this weekend.

merry christmas and happy new year everybody!

Re: my tamiya yamaha YZF R-1

Are you doing a totally red bike or the red/white combo?
Exhaust and work on front fender looks good.
What do you find annoying about the tube? A tip is to swap it for fishing line. That way you can get a more in scale tubing.

Re: my tamiya yamaha YZF R-1

i was thinking all red, but now i am thinking make a white "scrap" looking thingy on the side pannel. cuz maybe all red is going to be kinda boring. the annoying thing about the tube is they dont like to stay in place when there is glue in them, but now i already passed that stage.

Re: my tamiya yamaha YZF R-1

Are you sure about stripping? It's not enough with a gentle sanding and then rubbing it out with compound? Or sanding it and then just prime it all over the red.
If you have to strip there isn't much more than putting the part in brake fluid. When the paint has come off it is to start all over with primer.

Re: my tamiya yamaha YZF R-1

This must be a racing R1 bike. My R1 had a different rear fender.

Don't strip the paint. Sand it down with some fine grit sandpaper and paint over it. Assuming you use progressively finer grits, the new paint will cover with no problem.

i did a combination of both. anyway, the pint now is gone and i already re painted the whole thing. i think it looks much smoother now. but still, i can see the line where two pieces been glued together, sense i didnt know how to use putty >_<. or i shoud better say i was lazy because i thought primer would cover those lines. but all primer did is cover up the samll details . bah! i will do better on the next bike, which is the revell chopper
