GSX lost to....sleeper

So I'm sitting at Best Buy Dec. 23rd at 9pm...to say it sucks would be a tremendous understatement. I finally make my way to the exit and am waiting at hte redline...when I hear somebody get on it up the road. I had my window cracked and I hear a REAL loud bov...and then I see a green GSX come over the hill and start tearing down the gradual incline directly in front of me.

After the Eclipse has about 3 car lengths down the hill, a black car comes into view at the top of the hill...and it's gaining DAMN FAST. I couldn't quit make it out until they flew through the intersection in front of me. In that 1/10 of a mile or less, the mystery car had passed the GSX and proceeded to put a bus and a half at least in between them. And as it flew by and blew off (the really freaking loud one) right in front of me, my jaw dropped to the floor, when I realized it was a ~1984 VW GTI.

I havn't even seen new GTIs move that fast, I mean this guy was freaking boosting liek crazy. I couldn't help but laugh when the GSX past me, the guy driving was probably in his 30s and just had the most downtrodden look of defeat on his face. Poor guy never knew what hit him. He hit his brakes as he went through the intersection...and ended up getting stuck at the next redlight. So I pulled up next to him and just gave him the look like 'holy $%&#, I just saw that too'. He lowered his window and said 'sometimes there isn't anything you can do...that was just one hell of a sleeper' I just nodded, said 'nice car nonetheless' and then rolled away on green (was in teh Sub, otherwise I would have given him his 2nd defeat in a half mile)

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

I love the "feel sorry for him, but would still whoop his ass" attitude LOL

^^ He does not. It is his mother's car and sometimes borrows it (like when he screws up his 18" chromie wheel after hydro-plaining across water....just busting your balls Geoff). It is an automatic n/a scooby so it would not do much agianst any car.

Re: GSX lost to....sleeper

Yeah, i've seen an old GTI smoking GSX/GST's. Those cars can be made fast really easy, and the old ones are light. People just don't think that they can run quick until it is too late.

I believe Car & Driver did an article where they modified one with a turbo and ran 11's on pump gas.
